Brewtown Newtown

A quest to try the ever famous cronut led my friends and I to Brewtown Newtown. Being tucked away in an alley didn't stop the cafe. You could tell it was lunchtime as soon as you walk in. It was busy and everyone was chatting away with their coffees and sandwiches.

Even though it was packed, we were lucky we didn't have to wait long. The waiter soon had us seated and gave us water, which to our surprise was sparkling water.

Looking at the menu, it was no question that we were getting a cronut, which was adorably named the "Brewnut".

Brewnut with cinnamon and sugar - $3.50

The Brewnut was flaky and buttery, just like a croissant, but at the same time had the richer, denser flavour of a donut. The outside was crisp and sugary and the inside soft and flaky (look at those layers!). This is definitely a must try!

The Elvis burger - $16.50

For lunch, my friend ordered the Elvis burger. This was a beef patty, canadian bacon, gruyere cheese and mayo with two savoury Brewnuts as buns. The Elvis burger was accompanied with chips and tomato relish. I had a try and the combination of canadian bacon with the burger and cheese really worked well together.

Veggie burger - $12
I decided to get the veggie burger. The patty was made from quinoa and was so moist and flavourful! It went really well with the crunchy salad as well.

Brewtown Newtown is a great lunch or coffee spot. I'm wanting to try their Breakfast Juice next time!
